What is Ayurveda?
Ayurveda is the sister science to yoga and its purpose is to heal and to maintain the quality and longevity of life. The Sanskrit word Ayurveda translates as the "knowledge and wisdom of life." It offers a profound understanding of each person's unique body, mimd, and consciousness, which is the foundation of health and happiness. According to Ayurveda each person has a unique balanced constitution, and it is the imbalance in this constitution that leads to ill health. Ayurveda uses something called the doshas, Vata, Pitta and Kapha to determine an individual's constitution. When functioning normally and present in normal quantities, the doshas maintain all healthy bodily processes. When out of balance, they create disease.
